But that doesn't mean that you can't build a house in winter. In fact, it can actually be a quicker process - if you build a modular home! Here are a few reasons to consider building a modular home this winter:
The biggest difference in traditional building systems and modular building systems is where the home is built. In traditional site-built construction, contractors have to dig and prep that foundation, pour the concrete, and then build from the ground up. This means all the action happens on your construction site, in whatever weather the universe decides to give us at that particular time.
Modular or "factory-built" homes are - as its name implies - built primarily inside a large, temperature-controlled facility. This has a number of advantages:

It's a common worry that concrete foundations poured in cold weather are subpar. The fact is that even though they may take longer to cure, they can actually be stronger than foundations poured in warmer temperatures! There are also certain additives (like calcium chloride) that can safely speed up the curing process without weakening the foundation.
If less people are building homes in the winter, that means that less people are applying for construction permits, mortgage loans, and other necessary paperwork. This should make getting approvals faster since you have less volume coming through those offices!
